Helmholtz Institute Mainz
HI-TRON Mainz (Helmholtz Institute for Translational Oncology Mainz) is an institution of the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) in cooperation with the Research Institute for Translational Oncology at the University Medical Center of Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (TRON gGmbH), the University Medical Center Mainz (UMC) and Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (JGU).
Using state-of-the-art scientific technologies and computational methods, we aim to advance research in the fight against cancer. We do this by pooling the internationally outstanding expertise of our partners to develop personalized immunotherapies against cancer.
Our research focuses on three areas: "Personalized Biomarker Research", "Innovative Immunotherapies" and "Clinical Translation and Implementation". Biomarker research deals with the creation of individual tumor profiles and their correlation with therapy response. These findings complement the development of innovative immunotherapy concepts and their preclinical research. In addition, the aim is to rapidly implement and continuously improve novel diagnostic and therapeutic approaches in clinical trials.
The steadily growing HI-TRON Mainz currently consists of five divisions, four technological platforms, a coordination team and numerous cross-partner projects funded by HI-TRON Mainz.
